Backstage Update on WWE’s Plans for Mr. Iguana & Clarification on Mr. Iguana Claiming WWE Told Him He Would Go Straight to Main Roster
As noted before, Lucha Libre AAA talent Mr. Iguana stated in a recent interview with Línea Directa TV that he was told by WWE officials that he would be skipping NXT and heading straight to their main roster. WWE officials had been very pleased with the reaction and merchandise sales Mr. Iguana had generated for the company since last week’s Worlds Collide 2025 event.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that Mr. Iguana had generated backstage heat within WWE over his recent comments claiming that he would be going straight to the main roster.
Meltzer reported that the video of Mr. Iguana’s interview was quickly edited and reuploaded with his comments about his status within WWE being removed due to the backstage heat he caused.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE officials and Mr. Iguana are currently “finalizing” a deal for him to make more future appearances in the company.
It was reported that they have yet to confirm if Mr. Iguana had backstage heat over his comments but there were those who tried to claim that he never said it despite the opposite being true.
More on NXT June 10, 2025 Viewership
The June 10th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a large increase in overall viewership.
NXT drew 726,000 viewers and a 0.15 key demographic rating on The CW.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for NXT’s increase this week was due to the weaker than usual sports competition over the lack of NBA and NHL Playoffs and the large increase from their Over 50 demographic viewership and older key demographic viewership groups, which its percentages were not given. This reportedly offset the large decline from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 28.6% compared to last week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the WNBA game of Chicago Sky vs. New York Liberty drew 606,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB game of New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals drew 479,000 viewers on TBS, the U.S. Men’s Soccer game of United States vs. Switzerland drew 283,000 viewers on TNT, The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch drew 978,000 viewers on History Channel, 1000-LB Sisters drew 1,102,000 viewers on TLC, and Chopped drew 343,000 viewers on Food Network.
In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 201,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that NXT’s male/female viewership skew was 64.5% in favor of males.
In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was up 1.1% in overall viewership but down 29.2% in key demographic viewership.

Meltzer reported that WWE officials had always planned for this week’s RAW show to have a longer than usual runtime.
WWE reportedly drew an attendance of 10,825 for their June 7th Worlds Collide 2025 event in Los Angeles, CA and 17,069 for their June 7th Money in the Bank 2025 event in Inglewood, CA, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that everyone from Lucha Libre AAA who had worked at the Worlds Collide 2025 event have signed contracts with WWE. Dave Meltzer also reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that there are currently a total of seven WWE talents who earn well over $5 million per year in the company and another two talents who might also hit that figure this year. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella gave her thoughts about her sister Brie Bella making a potential return to WWE similar to her own recent return. In a recent interview with WWE Die Woche, current NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne gave her thoughts about Cody Rhodes’s appearance in an NXT show in June of 2024 and gifting her his “Dashing” face mask after she had suffered a broken nose injury. Jayne stated “Yeah, that was cool. That was really cool (Jayne said about getting face mask from Cody Rhodes) … I wasn’t even cleared. I was off TV for like four or five weeks because I had to get surgery and then, they were like, ‘Well, we can get you back on TV if you wear this protective mask’ and I’m like, ‘Yes, give me the mask, get me back on TV. I’ll figure it out as I go’ and then the next week they’re like, ‘We have a special guest coming to see you.’ I’m like, ‘Special guest?’ It’s like, ‘Who’s coming?’ I had no idea and then he showed up that day. I was like, ‘That’s for me?’ That was crazy because I remember watching him in the mask growing up. The ‘Smoke and Mirrors,’ all that stuff. I was a fan back in the day so, 10 years later for him to come and give me the exact same, it was crazy. It still had the crack in it from when he got hit in the face. It was the real deal. It was cool. I tried to pitch doing the brown bag thing. After the mask, I was like, ‘Can I start putting brown bags over ugly people’s faces?’ We never got that far in the storyline. I don’t know why, you know, they said no to all that. I don’t really remember but I did ask to do that… Maybe one day. If I ever break my nose again which I hope never happens but if it does, I’ll pitch it again.” Jayne also revealed that she still has never gotten the second surgery to fix her septum. Jayne stated “Mine never actually got fixed like that. Mine was shattered in three places and they basically were like, ‘Your nose is so broken, that we just have to make it straight first and then if you wanna have another surgery, you can come back and we’ll fix the septum. But I never had the second surgery so I can’t breathe out of my nose at all… I’m like a mouth-breather now. It’s really bad.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
