WWE: Reason for Roman Reigns Stretcher Angle at WWE Clash in Paris, Backstage Update on Potential AJ Lee WWE Return in Future, John Cena Appearance Set for 9/5 WWE SmackDown Show

Reason for Roman Reigns Stretcher Angle at WWE Clash in Paris

Sunday’s WWE Clash in Paris event at the Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre, France featured Roman Reigns defeating “Big” Bronson Reed in a singles match. This match was notable for Reigns’ regaining his sneakers that were stolen by Reed and also for a post-match attack by Reed and Bron Breakker resulting in Reigns being stretchered to the back.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that the reason for the stretcher angle at the show was due to that being WWE officials’ way of writing out Reigns due to him beginning filming for the live action Street Fighter film this September.

Johnson reported that Reigns is currently scheduled to be away from WWE from September 2nd to the week of September 26th assuming everything runs on schedule.

Besides Reigns, current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is also scheduled to be away from WWE next month due to him also being involved in the filming.

Backstage Update on Potential AJ Lee WWE Return in Future

Sunday’s WWE Clash in Paris event in Nanterre, France also featured Becky Lynch attacking CM Punk and being revealed as the newest member of The Vision, which is led by her real life husband Seth Rollins. This quickly led to online rumors of Punk’s wife AJ Lee making a potential return to WWE soon to join Punk for his feud with Lynch and Rollins.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Lee’s name has been brought up in numerous pitches within WWE of late. It was reported that some of these pitches were not quite shut down like in the past.

It was reported that while they were not able to confirm from their sources that Lee’s return to WWE “is a go”, there has been more traction of late than in previous years.

Lee last wrestled in March of 2015 and has been retired from in-ring wrestling since then.
