Santos Escobar WWE Status Update

As noted before, Santos Escobar signed a new contract with WWE earlier this month and shortly after his original contract had expired after he had turned down an offer due to “creative dissatisfaction” issues at the time. Escobar had been scheduled to be in attendance at this past Monday’s WWE RAW show in Anaheim, California but it was not know if he would be making an actual return appearance on the show itself, which he did not in the end.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that Escobar was in attendance backstage at this past Monday’s WWE RAW show.

This was the first time Escobar had attended a WWE show since signing his new contract with the company.

Backstage Update on Samantha Irvin’s Two-Year Non-Compete Clause with WWE

As noted before, Samantha Irvin departed from WWE in October of 2024 over issues related to the two sides not being able to come to terms for Irvin’s outside music projects and Irvin wanting to do more than just be a ring announcer in the company. Irvin revealed last week that her non-compete clause with WWE was for two years in length and she currently has one year remaining on it.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources stated that prior to her departure, Irvin had signed a new contract with WWE in early 2024 that included a significant pay raise but also terms for a two-year non-compete clause. Sapp reported that the reason for the very lengthy non-compete clause was due to WWE wanting to make their money back on her deal by making her more visible and frequently on television in attempt to create viral moments for the company.

In regards to a major cause for Irvin’s departure decision, Sapp reported that WWE had pulled a lot their ring announcing talent from the road and had Irvin doing a lot more work despite her not really wanting to do ring announcing work.

In regards to the reason why Irvin accepted the lengthy non-compete clause, Sapp reported that WWE’s lucrative financial offer was hard for her to turn down and in return she took the hefty non-compete that was attached to it.

Sapp also reported that Irvin’s issue was never about her jumping ship to another promotion and instead it was about stepping away from ring announcing and not from her career in the wrestling business.

Sapp also reported that WWE’s claim of Irvin left to pursue music wasn’t exactly accurate due to she had always done music even while she was working for the company.
