As noted before, this past September’s WWE NXT No Mercy 2025 event featured Ricky Saints defeating Oba Femi to become the new NXT Champion. Femi’s title loss and him not being booked for next week’s NXT Showdown special has lead to online speculation of him being called up soon to WWE’s main roster.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that the reason for Femi’s NXT Championship loss at NXT No Mercy was not due to plans for him to be called up to the main roster. Meltzer reported that Femi is still in the creative plans for NXT going forward.
Meltzer reported that it is possible that WWE officials could be trying to swerve people due to how they tell almost nobody about call-up plans a lot of the time so that people who should know get blindsided for the surprise call-ups.
Meltzer reported that Femi’s status is currently him not getting called up for now based on those who know about his situation but there is no such thing as a 100 percent no.
In regards to Tony D’Angelo’s current abscense from NXT since this past July, Meltzer reported that the reason for D’Angelo’s current abscense is not due to any injury related reason and instead he had requested and was granted some time off for a break.
