This past November’s WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2025 event in San Diego, California featured a show closing angle involving Roman Reigns, WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, and Undisputed Cody Rhodes confronting each other in the ring following their Men’s WarGames match loss. This angle was expected to be WWE’s way of teasing the potential main event plans for next year’s WrestleMania 42.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that WWE officials currently have plans for a Rhodes vs. Reigns match for the Undisputed WWE Championship to place but not necessarily at next year’s WrestleMania 42.
Meltzer also reported that those spoken to stated that Seth Rollins returning to the ring in time for WrestleMania 42 is a possibility but its too early to determine if it can happen due to Rollins’ shoulder injury situation. Meltzer speculated that Rollins vs. Bron Breakker likely would take place at WrestleMania 42 if Rollins was medically cleared to compete.
