Jim Ross Comments on Powerhouse Hobbs Thanking Him For Advice He Gave For His Wrestling Career

As noted before, Powerhouse Hobbs’ contract with AEW expired on January 15th and he recently signed with WWE. Hobbs is currently expected to be going under the new ring name of Royce Keys for his career in WWE.

A recent episode of the Grilling JR podcast featured co-host and AEW commentator Jim Ross giving his thoughts about Chris Jericho making a surprise WWE return appearance at WWE’s Royal Rumble 2026 event.

“Hell yeah. Absolutely. He’s too smart not to get himself booked on this show for his return. He’ll get a big pop.”

Ross also gave his thoughts about Hobbs making his potential WWE debut at WWE’s upcoming Royal Rumble event as well.

“I’m especially excited about ‘Big Willy.’

I don’t know if it’s a secret or not. He’ll be in the Royal Rumble, I think. Why in the hell would you sign a guy this close to a major event and then not utilize him? And that’ll be a new face. And he looks great.“

Ross also gave his thoughts about how Hobbs had recently called him to thank him for all the advice he has given over the years to help improve his wrestling career and how he is open to giving more advice in the future if Hobbs wants.

He called me a day or two ago, thanking me for my help over the years. I said, ‘Well, my phone number isn’t going to change, big fella.”

Tommaso Ciampa Comments on His Praise of Mark Briscoe & Watching Briscoe’s Singles Run “Genuinely Touched My Heart”

SHAK Wrestling held a recent interview with Tommaso Ciampa. One of the topics discussed included Ciampa’s thoughts about his praise of Mark Briscoe and Briscoe’s singles run since his brother Jay’s passing and how he could not have chosen a better first opponent to debut in AEW against.

“I just wanna touch on Mark Briscoe. I’ve always loved The Briscoes. I always will love them, I have nothing but respect for them. What he’s done as a singles wrestler is incredible to me. Watching that from the sidelines genuinely touched my heart to see how much he succeeded because he deserves it. With that said, the very last match I ever had in Ring of Honor was in Texas, and there’s some real bittersweetness to coming back full circle, 13-something-whatever years later, and stepping into the ring with Mark Briscoe, and this is a new Mark Briscoe and this is a new Tommaso Ciampa, and we just so happen to be in Texas, and there’s no ROH Title this time. It’s a TNT Title… There’s so much fun to be had there. I couldn’t pick a better first opponent in my wildest dreams, because he is the most likeable babyface, arguably in all of professional wrestling. He’s impossible not to like. I like him so much that I had to give him a kiss, and to get in there with him on Saturday with the TNT Championship, knowing it’s my first-ever match in All Elite Wrestling, I’m stoked about it. I think the people are going to be completely fulfilled and get their money’s worth, because Mark’s an incredible wrestler and I have a lot to prove. So tune into Collision, because it’s my first-ever match and it ain’t ever happening again.
