Update:
Trey Miguel issued an official statement earlier today on Twitter seemingly addressing past controversial homophobic and anti-semitic comments he made on Twitter that recently resurfaced online following his signing with AEW.
These past controversial comments were quickly speculated online to be the potential reason for Miguel’s release from AEW shortly after signing with the company. It was also speculated that Warner Bros Discovery were the ones who made the call for Miguel’s release.
“I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my time. I’ve always apologized and did my best to put a better foot forward after. I don’t preach hate and I don’t take any pride in being hateful. I’m a man of faith, I believe in forgiveness and only ever preach that. I’m a different man today.”

As noted before, Trey Miguel recently announced that he is taking a break from wrestling and was recently released from his contract with AEW he signed earlier this month as a result.
Bryan Alvarez reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that the exact reason why Miguel is taking a break from wrestling and was released from his AEW contract is currently not known based on his sources.
Alvarez reported that the only details known is that the decision for his release “came from above” and had nothing to do with anybody in AEW’s locker room or with AEW CEO Tony Khan. Alvarez reported that “something happened from way up and he was released.”
