Big E Comments on Him Being Retired Right Now From In-Ring Wrestling
As noted before, Big E has been out of action for WWE since March of 2022 due to a broken neck injury. Big E revealed in an interview with the What’s Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon podcast this past October that his in-ring wrestling career is behind him. During his time away from the ring, Big E has been working as a panelist for WWE’s pre and post-shows for PLE events.
Compas On The Beat held a recent interview with Big E at the Super Bowl Radio Row event in San Francisco, California. One of the topics discussed included Big E’s thoughts about if he ever gets the itch to return to the ring.
“I’m content. You know, in wrestling they always say ‘never say never.’ But right now I’m retired, and that for me is it. So I’m focused on other things right now.”
Big E also gave his thoughts about how he really enjoys his current panelist job in WWE since it lets him be able to help inform fans on what they’re seeing in the ring during shows.
“It’s been good. It’s something I really enjoy, something I didn’t think I necessarily was going to do when my career was over. But it’s been a blast, man. I get to be a part of what we’re doing in WWE and do it in a different way. I’ve really enjoyed being a part of helping people be more informed about what they’re about to see or what they just saw. And it’s helped prepare me for other roles in broadcasting as well. So not something I had on my radar when my career was wrapping up, but I’m really enjoying it.”

Internal WWE Belief Regarding AJ Styles’ Wrestling Career Future
As noted before, AJ Styles retired from his WWE in-ring wrestling career following his loss to Gunther in a Career Threatening match at last Saturday’s WWE Royal Rumble 2026 event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This match was notable for Styles taking off his gloves and then putting it right back on during his post-match farewell to the crowd. This quickly led to online speculation of Styles might not be done with his in-ring career yet.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that the speculation of the future of Styles’ in-ring career also extends inside WWE. Those spoken to within WWE reportedly stated that they currently believe that Styles is not done wrestling in some sort of capacity. No other details were given regarding Styles’ potential in-ring career future.
Styles’ contract status within WWE is currently not exactly known beyond the belief that it was expected to expire in February.
