Tony Khan on His Comparisons of Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega to ‘The Godfather’

A recent episode of the Markin Out with MVP & Dwayne Swayze podcast featured AEW CEO Tony Khan as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts about the Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega feud in wrestling and his comparisons of their first match to “The Godfather” film in terms of being one of the greatest of all time.

“It’s something to me where, when I watch ‘The Godfather’ and I think it’s so perfect, and I can watch it over and over, and then, they actually went out and managed to make a movie in ‘Godfather II,’ of the same standard that complements the original. They go together so well. That’s the rivalry between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada. They made this incredible, incredible match that, to me, is like ‘The Godfather,’ it’s the perfect match, and then they have gone out with their rivalry and managed to maintain that level of perfection and do something that is not repetitive, it’s complementary. That is the standard of Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega.”

Okada and Omega have faced off against each other five times in singles matches in their wrestling careers with four in NJPW and one in AEW.
