Ric Flair Clarifies He’s Not Suing His Son After Comments Threatening Legal Action Over “Flair” Trademark

WWE Hall of Fame Ric Flair stated in a now-deleted tweet on Friday that he was considering legal against against someone over their unauthorized usage of the “Flair” trademark and told this person that they had until Monday to clear up this situation or else his attorneys would be getting involved.

“Unfortunately, There Is Someone That I’m Very Familiar With Using My Own Trademark FLAIR. I Would Like Anyone Who Is Using My Trademarks- Which Are Impossible To Own And I Own Mine, To Know That I’m Well Represented By A Reputable $1000 Per Hour Attorney That Makes A Living Suing People That Abuse My Trademark. You Know Who I’m Talking About. I Hope You Can Clear This Up By Monday, And If We Can’t Resolve This Issue, Read The Penalties.”

In a follow-up deleted tweet, Flair expanded on his comments about this person he was talking about.

“The Relationship Was Gone 9 Years Ago… I’m Sorry & Sad That It Has Come To This. I’ve Tried My Best To Fix Things Over The Years Only To Be Rejected Because Your Wife Runs Your Life.”

This quickly lead to online speculation of the person Flair was talking about was his son and former WCW wrestler David Flair.

Flair provided an update earlier today in another deleted tweet stating that he was not suing his son David but also told his son to not sell any more of the wrestling robes that he had.

“I’m Obviously Not Suing My Son. Just Reminding Him That You Can’t Have The Best Of Both Worlds! Use Your God Given Name, Fliehr, Which Isn’t Worth A Cup Of Coffee. Or Your Wife’s Name, Who Has Had 3 Generations Of Success. Also, Please Don’t Sell My Robes That I Let You Use During Your Career As You Have Already Sold One. You’re 47 Years Old… Now Stand On Your Own Two Feet Please.”

In a follow-up tweet, Flair issued an apology for publicly airing his frustrations and he is going to focus on his health now.

“If You Understood The Health Issues That I Deal With And Am Currently Dealing With, You Would Understand Why I Get Frustrated In Life With A Lot Of People. I’m Sorry For The Frustration. I Am Taking Time To Focus On My Health.”
