As noted before, FOX owned streaming service Tubi recently uploaded over one hundred episodes of AEW Dynamite from AEW’s first three years to the service in the United States.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the reason why AEW was able to get a media rights deal with Tubi is due to WWE’s parent company TKO Group does not actually have exclusivity deals with every streaming service and broadcast partner that carries UFC and WWE programming. Meltzer brought up how TKO was unable to keep PFL off ESPN nor were they able to keep Jake Paul’s boxing events off Netflix despite both being competitors to UFC and Zuffa Boxing.
Meltzer reported that TKO also has no input on whatever decision Paramount Skydance will make next year regarding AEW’s media rights contract with Warner Bros Discovery. Paramount currently has media rights deals with TKO for UFC and Zuffa Boxing on their Paramount+ streaming service.
In regards to AEW’s deal with Tubi, Meltzer reported that his sources within AEW stated:
“Our WatchAEW channel is a 24-7 FAST stream showing archival AEW dynamite episodes and it’s on lots of platforms: MyAEW, Amazon, HP+ and LG televisions for instance. Soon it’ll join Tubi FAST channels. In addition, we are making hundreds of hours of the AEW library available on AVOD on Tubi which is what debuted today. This is the same content that’s part of the WatchAEW library that we show on the FAST channel each month. HBO Max remains the U.S. destination for viewing all of the U.S. PPV archives and the permanent archives of AEW dynamite, collision, rampage, BOTB.
Currently we have uploaded 2019-q3’2023 (ongoing) and 2025-current. We add to the HBO MAX archives monthly to complete the archival record. Tubi is another partner who sees value in the vast AEW archives that we control and we are able to offer them in many platforms including (but not limited to) SVOD (HBO MAX), AVOD (TUBI) and FAST (WATCHAEW). There’s no changes to our stellar relationship with HBO MAX or the distribution plan of MyAEW (international subscriptions available for TV and TV+PPV). We are expanding how our FAST channel is being distributed. This deals so can include ad-supported VOD elements which is a sector that Tubi remains a strong performer.”
