As noted before, TNA Head of Talent Relations and booker Tommy Dreamer departed from TNA Wrestling earlier this month. Dreamer’s departure was later confirmed by TNA to be part of a larger workplace reductions taking place within the company. TNA held recent talks with former WWE SmackDown co-lead writer and WWE Hall of Famer Brian “Road Dogg” James to be Tommy Dreamer’s potential replacement in their creative team.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that while James was backstage at TNA’s Slammiversary 2026 event in Boston on Sunday, the two sides are still “ironing out a deal” for him to join the company.
Johnson reported that James is currently expected to join TNA in a behind-the-scenes role as part of the company’s creative team.
In regards to Dreamer’s departure and if it had any impact on TNA’s creative plans for Slammiversary, Johnson reported that those spoken to within TNA stated that the shakeup did not lead to any major changes made to plans for Slammiversary. TNA officials reportedly were “very happy” with how the show played out.
In regards to Hunter “Delirious’ Johnston’s status as TNA’s lead creative writer and booker, Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Delirious is currently in no danger of being let go by the company.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that Deleterious was not part of any of the creative problems within TNA for why Dreamer was let go and not him as well.
