Kayla Braxton on Triple H Told Her “The Door Is Always Open Here” Following Her WWE Exit, WWE’s Relaxed Approach to On-Screen Presentation, & Her Reason For Not Wanting To Go To AEW After Her WWE Departure

A recent episode of TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast featured former WWE personality and interview Kayla Braxton, real name Kayla Becker, as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Braxton’s thoughts about her departure from WWE in 2024 and how WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque had told her that the door is always open for her for a potential return to the company in the future.

“When I left, Triple H did say that to me. He said, ‘The door is always open here’. Which is such a nice thing to hear from your boss when you’re the one walking away, and I know I hope so. I don’t think I ever see myself going back in the same capacity, but I when I left, I just hoped I could go away, kind of create my own brand for myself. It takes time because I don’t want to always be, not that there’s anything wrong with it, but I just didn’t always want to be WWE’s Kayla Braxton because I had so much more I wanted to do. In WWE, it’s very difficult to take on other projects, whether it be time or just because all the red tape. So I’m gonna go away for a few years and just really build up Kayla Becker and see what all I can do, and then maybe come back in a segment as Kayla Becker. Maybe I come one day and I take Paul [Heyman]’s job for like a month and I’m now the GM or the manager for whoever he’s managing at the time. Who knows? But we’ll see. I want to wait a little bit. They may not actually ever want me back. Who knows? But if they ever did, I’d want it to be a few years and I’m really established outside so that way I can come back and have more to show.”

Braxton also gave her thoughts about the evolution of WWE’s backstage presentation for shows and the company’s leniency on pulling back the curtain and lifting restraints allowing personalities to shine through in interviews and interactions during shows.

“To be honest, I think all that started happening on my way out where they’re allowing the curtain to be pulled back a little bit more. I think maybe that was it. I think Triple H and the powers that be probably saw ‘Oh, we’re getting a lot of good reaction from these fans who have been a part of us for so many years.’ They’re feeling like they get to kind of peek in now and it’s really good for the fans.

Back then we kept things very tight closed now you can’t know what, anything’s happening. No breaking character I remember even me if I, there were sometimes it was very hard for me to keep my composure when I was interviewing some of these guys and when I was new I remember being told like ‘You cannot break, do not smirk, do not blink, do not breathe.’ And then it got to a point I think after The Bump and people started seeing that I have a personality and a rapport with these people, they allowed it. So sometimes you will see a little smirk or it’s hard to keep down the laugh ‘cause how do you not laugh at some of these people? How do you not laugh at Paul Heyman screaming and spitting in your face?

In NXT that was a big thing where they’re like, when I was working for NXT they’re like ‘You cannot, you cannot break (character)’. I’m like ‘Yu should not have said that now all I’m gonna be thinking about is laughing.’”

Braxton also gave her thoughts about her reason why she was not interested in potentially going to AEW after her departure from WWE.

“Well, I think when I left WWE, I made it very clear I was not going to AEW or any other wrestling company. Why would I leave? Why would I, why would I leave the biggest wrestling company in the world to go to another. Cause, like, why? It’s like, obviously I wanted to do something else besides wrestling.”
