The Rock Reveals Recent Testicular Cancer Scare & Says He’s Feeling Fine Now
Esquire held a recent interview with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. One of the topics discussed included Johnson revealing that he recently had a testicular cancer scare incident but he is currently feeling fine.
“I didn’t even tell Lauren. I didn’t want to worry her before I knew if it was anything to even worry about.
By the way: I’m fine. But I didn’t know that then, and the thing was really painful.
So I had to live with that for those twenty-four hours, not knowing—and I had to be on all day, joking around, making speeches.”
Johnson also gave his thoughts about missing out on an Oscar nomination for his performance in the Smashing Machine biopic.
“It would have been incredible to get nominated for an Oscar. I realized very quickly that it’s a rare thing to reach this pinnacle where you’re even having these conversations. And it’s exciting! It would have been amazing. I wish it happened. But it didn’t. But in no uncertain terms did I ever think, Oh, that doesn’t matter. I always thought it mattered. And it has lit a fire in my spine, which is: Let’s go back to work.”
John Cena Comments on “It Would Be Financial Suicide For Someone To Court Me For Another Match”
US Weekly held a recent interview with former WWE wrestler John Cena. One of the topics discussed included Cena’s thoughts about the potential of him having one more match after his retirement from his in-ring career this past December and how it would be “financial suicide” for someone to court him in a position where he would have another match.
“I hate speaking in absolutes … “Never” is a strong word. It would be financial suicide for someone to court me in a position where I would have another match, and I truly mean that. So if you’re in the business of torching currency, that’s the only way to get me back in the ring. Aside from that, the reason “one more match” resonated so well for me, first of all, I got to express to the fans of how fulfilled I felt when I retired. Second of all, the interest of an audience being like, “We want to see you again!” gets me excited for the new idea of the John Cena Classic. We can do this again. I’ll be there. It’ll be fan-forward and fan-first. I won’t be so focused on, “Man, this match means everything to me. I’ve got to make sure I give all I have when the music plays and I’m under the lights.” I get to watch other performers, so I can kind of be the ambassador for the event, and I can get out there and meet with people that matter most in my life, the fans. I really can’t wait for this thing to find its legs, for us to get a city and a date and move forward. And I can’t wait for it to happen. So when I hear “one more match,” I hear [that] there’s still interest, the heart still beats. I’m trying to think in my head, How can we gear this to where I can be there, be active and be included but allow others to do the thing I can no longer do. I hope we have it with the John Cena Classic.”
Jon Heidenreich Comments on How He Feared For His WWE Career After Randy Orton In-Ring Injury Scare Incident
A recent episode of the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast featured former WWE wrestler Jon Heidenreich as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Heidenreich’s thoughts about an neck injury scare incident he had during training with Randy Orton early in his career and how he feared for his WWE career over his worries of Orton being seriously hurt.
“Me and Randy, we were actually practicing one day, and I went to give him a sunset flip, or he was giving one, and I lost my balance and fell on him. I landed on his face and neck, and I thought I hurt him, man. I was like, I’m done. That’s Randy Orton. I thought I might have hurt his neck.
He turned out to be fine. They called an ambulance, bro, because I thought I landed on his face and his neck, and I was thinking ‘Oh my God, if I hurt him, I’ll say I’m just gonna quit, because they might kill me.’”
