As noted before, the July 8th AEW Dynamite Beach Break 2026 show in Clearwater, Florida featured Kenny Omega defeating MJF to become the new AEW World Champion. AEW officials original plans were for this match to take place at their Redemption event and was believed to be changed due to MJF pushing for it to take place on AEW television instead.
The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported that his sources stated that AEW officials’ current plans for the main event of their upcoming Redemption event is for Omega to defend his AEW World title against Kevin Knight.
“Yes, as of a few days ago, Kenny Omega vs. Kevin Knight was the Redemption title match.”
AEW officials recently held discussions regarding giving Knight a major push soon and for it to involve him competing in an AEW World title match.
AEW Redemption takes place on July 26 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
