Darby Allin Rules Out AEW Match With Mick Foley But Wants To Team With Him

As noted before, this past May’s AEW Double or Nothing 2026 event in Queens, New York featured WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley making his official debut appearance in AEW. Foley had stated in an interview with The Ariel Helwani Show earlier this month that he is open to the idea of potentially wrestling one last match for his wrestling career and it taking place in AEW. Foley had stated in a separate interview with News4JAX’s Going Ringside podcast this past June that Darby Allin would be his pick for an opponent for a potential one last match.

Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown on SI held a recent interview with Allin. One of the topics discussed included Allin’s thoughts about him not being open to the idea of wanting to wrestle Foley in a match but he is interested in potentially teaming up with him instead.

“I would never wrestle Mick. I would never wrestle against Mick.

Would I team with him? Absolutely. I would team with him in a heartbeat. Just like I would never wrestle Sting. I would love to team with him. But that’s the thing for Mick to answer. What does he feel in his career that, if he would even need that, if there’s any questions unanswered?”

Allin also gave his thoughts about how there would be “more meat on the bone” with him and Foley teaming together than there would be with them as opponents for a match.

“I don’t feel like I’d get out of it what we want, I feel like there’s a lot more meat on the bone with me teaming with him. I just don’t think I’d get out of it what I would think I would.

I wouldn’t want to go out there and have that with somebody like Mick that a lot of people are saying he doesn’t need to be in the ring. If he’s gonna be in the ring, I wanna do everything to help him, like, by his side. It’s just not something that interests me.”
