Backstage: Athena, Janai Kai

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena was seen backstage with Billie Starkz for an interview with Sam Leterna for some words about her becoming the longest reigning World champion in the modern era for a men’s or women’s champion. Athena talked about Janai Kai stepping up to the plate for a match with her tonight.

Janai Kai vs. Athena (c)

Our match got underway with Athena and Kai fighting at a technical pace. Athena shoved Kai down and taunted her. Kai responded by putting her educated feet to good use to send Athena retreating out of the ring. As the ROH Women’s World Champ got back in, Kai took over with a pair of kicks, folloaed by the Slingblade. Kai then kicked Athena hard in the back of her head.

With three minutes to go, Billie Starkz hit Kai with the ROH Women’s World Title and it allowed for Athena to pick up the win with the O-Face.

Winner: Athena via Pinfall.

We got words from new AEW World Trios Champions, Bandido, Adam Page, and Brodie King after last night’s Grand Slam Mexico.

Queen Aminata vs. Rachel Ley

Collar and elbow tieup between Aminata and Rachel started this match off. Aminata hit a snapmare on Rachel before she kicked her in the back. The Queen’s Tush Push soon followed as Rachel countered with an enzuigiri. Rachel sent Aminata into the corner and battered away at her. The two exchanged chops and strikes in the corner until Aminata had the clear advantage with one hard chop to the chest of Rachel.

Rachel countered and hit a very acrobatic attack into the corner on Aminata. The finish from Aminata and this one’s over.

Winner: Queen Aminata via Pinfall.

BEEF vs. “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard

Beef and Menard sized one another up before the test of strength between these big, meaty-adjacent men. Side headlock by Menard as Beef pushed him aside. Shoulder blocks between the two to no avai, but Beef eventually got the better with a big shoulder takedown of his own. Beef avoided Menard in the corner and slapped Menard right in the cheeks to psyche him out. Menard responded with a slap of the cheeks of his won. Armdrag by Daddy Magic led to a big clothesline to send Beef out of the ring. At ringside, “Smart” Mark Sterling gave Beef a peptalk before sending him back into the ring.

Inside the ring, Beef was made to run laps by Sterling, as Daddy Magic joined him in response. Sterling pulled at Menard’s leg to distract him, which led to a scoop slam from Beef. The running splash by Beef missed the target as Menard avoided it. Beef responded with a big back elbow to the face of Menard. Beef delivered the big, beefy dropkick on Menard as he kept the momentum on his side. With the ref distracted, Mark Sterling grabbed at Menard’s face in the corner. Beef again sought advice from Sterling, but it gave Menard the opening to fight back with chops and the ten-punch in the corner. Menard went for a series of lariats, but Beef stood his ground. Big boot from Beef, but it was met with the German suplex from Menard. The cover, but Beef kicked out at two. Beef recovered and drove the knee to Menard’s midsection. On the apron, Beef got sent out of the ring by a kick from Menard, who went to confront him out of the ring.

Menard threw Beef in the ring, as Ariya Daivari and Tony Nese attacked him behind the referee’s back. With Menard thrown in the ring, Beef headed up top and connected with the Flying Pig to pick up the tainted victory.

Winner: BEEF via Pinfall.

Post-match, the Premier Athletes attacked Menard, as Daivari slapped Beef. This prompted Beef to attack Menard some more, but he showed some remorse afterwards.

Backstage: Janai Kai

Janai Kai challenged Billie Starkz to face her after what happened in the Proving Ground match earlier tonight.

RPG Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta) vs. Eddie Kingston & Ortiz

Ortiz and Beretta started things off as the latter refused to shake hands for the Code of Honor. Stalemate between Ortiz and Beretta on the collar-and-elbow tie up until Beretta struck with the elbow to the face. Ortiz retaliated with some strikes until Beretta swept him up with the side headlock. Ortiz escaped and pushed Beretta towards the ropes. He followed that with a flapjack to leave Beretta stunned. Tag to Kingston as he and Ortiz delivered a double suplex on Beretta. The rake of the eye by Beretta to Kingston allowed him to bring in Romero.

Romero tried to take advantage, but Kingston took him for a ride with a belly to belly suplex. The tag to Ortiz led to a double team STO/Russian legsweep combo attack on Romero. Throw to the corner by Romero to Ortiz led straight to boots on the back of Ortiz from Beretta. RPG Vice took over as Beretta and Romero worked over Ortiz. Romero struck Ortiz with a forearm to the face, following that up with a foot choke. Romero got sent for a ride with the body slam from Ortiz, who tagged in Kingston. Stretch Plum on Beretta by Kingston as Romero attempted to break it up. He paid for it and found himself trapped in the Stretch Plum. Beretta intervened and we got him and Kingston in a battle of chops. Kingston won it out with a very hard chop and then performed a Hart Attack with Ortiz on Beretta.

Dropkick by Beretta took Ortiz out to the ring. Beretta baited Kingston to illegally get in the ring, which allowed for Romero to strike Ortiz with a cheapshot. Kingston grabbed a chair and chased RPG Vice around the ring as he risked disqualification. In the ring, Beretta hit Ortiz with a tornado DDT for the near-fall. Ortiz recovered by biting at the inside of Romero’s legs, and got hit with three lariats. Ortiz countered the last attempt by Romero and Kingston got another hot tag. Completely fired up, Kingston battered Beretta with the rapid-fire chops and drove Romero down to the mat with a neckbreaker. Romero and Beretta cleared the ring as they looked to hit a devastating double move. Dropkick by Romero was followed by Beretta’s shining wizard, but that was still somehow not enough to win it for RPG Vice.

Beretta snatched Kingston and hit the Gotch-style piledriver as Ortiz broke up the cover. Ortiz found himself chucked out of the ring, which agian left Kingston at the mercy of RPG Vice. Beretta hit mocking kicks on Kingston, but he and Romero paid for it with a two-for one clothesline by Kingston. Ortiz tagged in and immediately got into it with Beretta in an exchange of strikes. Ortiz got hit with a knee from Beretta, but he countered with a leg lariat. Romero tried to interject, but Ortiz cracked him with a lariat. Doomsday Device attempt by Ortiz & Kingston, but the former got pushed out of the ring. Beretta accidentally hit Romero with the superkick before Kingston slammed him with the T-Bone suplex. Roll-up pin by Kingston on Romero and this one’s done.

Winner: Eddie Kingston & Ortiz via Pinfall.

After the match, RPG Vice responded to the loss by attacking Ortiz and Kingston. The two hit the Strong Zero/Double-Stomp combo on Kingston right onto a chair.

Matt Taven & Mike Bennett said that they were looking for an intelligence they couldn’t find in ROH, in the form of artificial intelligence. Taven said that the AI told him and Bennett lean into their savy and cunning. Bennett wondered why more teams didn’t seek more help from artificial intelligence like they have.

Coleman questioned the Kingdom on why they needed AI help in the first place. Bennett and Taven continued to extol the supposed virtues of AI, much to Coleman’s confusion. Taven said that he wanted to win by any means necessary. The Kingdom claimed that “Sparta” was making them smarter, calling themselves a more “computerized” Kingdom these days.

Tehuti Miles vs. Dante Casanova

Before the match, Miles introduced himself to the crowd, stating that we could call him “Hooty-Hoo”. He asked the crowd how many of them ever wanted to be in the wrestling business. Miles boasted himself as the most sought-out talent in the wrestling industry.

Miles had Casanova locked in a sleeper hold, but couldn’t put his foe to sleep as Casanova got out of the hold and hit a big back suplex. Casanova attempted a comeback with strikes, followed by the double-axe handle. Casanova blocked Miles’ Irish Whip attempt and hit him with the slam. Casanova winded up his arm for the lariat and got a head of speed. Miles avoided the strike from Casanova and brought him down with a big vertical dropkick. Miles tuned up the band in the corner and he went for the superkick. Casanova countered it with the claw, but Miles escaped the grip and made no mistake with the kick and win.

Winner: Tehuti Miles via Pinfall.

After the match, Shane Taylor Promotions appeared on the ramp in full force, appearing to have their eyes on Miles. They got their answer as Miles seemingly joined S.T.P. Afterwards, Shane Taylor himself officially introduced everyone to his group’s new member, Tehuti Miles.

Action Andretti vs. LJ Cleary

Cleary and Andretti had a fast-pace start until Cleary took time to style himself, to Andretti’s confusion. Andretti mocked Cleary’s gesture and hit the stungun on him afterwards. Andretti kept it up with the double backspring right into a Stunner to leave Cleary stunned. In the corner, Andretti stomped away at Cleary before getting into a battle of chops with his opponent. Handspring by Andretti led to a back elbow on Cleary.

Andretti chopped at Cleary and was met with a set of strikes. Clothesline by Cleary led to a nice middle-turnbuckle double stomp. The cover, but Andretti was able to kick out at two. Off the ropes, springboard back elbow by Cleary was countered by Andretti, who shelled him with two superkicks and the Falcon Arrow. One, two… not quite. On the top rope, front facelock by Andretti was blocked by Cleary. Big kick by Cleary as he headed up top. Andretti tripped him up, kicked him, delivered the Spanish Fly. This was followed by the side naked choke by Andretti for the submission win.

Winner: Action Andretti via Submission.

Backstage: Ortiz, Eddie Kingston, Mance Warner

Mance Warner, Eddie Kingston, and Ortiz had some words for RPG Vice, promising vengeance on Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta.

Six-Man Tag Team Match
Brandon Cutler, Terry Yaki, & Jay Lucas vs. The Colons (Eddie & Orlando Colon) & Serpentico

Cutler and Serpentico got it going for their teams. Collar and elbow tie up as Serpentico looked to have the early advantage in the technical ground game. Cutler matched him hold for hold and hit him with the arm drag. The senton from Cutler was followed by a missed charging attack in the corner. Tijares by Serpentico was countered by Cutler’s big boot. Sunset flip was blocked by Serpentico, who tagge din Eddie Colon. Eddie and Orlando hit the double hip-toss on Cutler, with Serpentico putting a stamp on it with the superkick. Orlando lifted up Cutler for the nice stalling suplex, but that wasn’t enough for the win.

Off the ropes by Orlando, as Jay Lucas took a shot at him. This led to a hard strike from Cutler with Terry and Jay getting their chance to shine. Terry, the legal man, applied the chinlock on Orlando and turned that into a neckbreaker. Cover, but Orlando kicked out. Jay tagged in and continued to work over Orlando. Terry showed off a nice rolling senton by using Jay as a base to drop onto Orlando. Cutler and friends maintained control of the match as they kept Orlando isolated.

Cutler superkicked Serpentico off the apron, but it gave Orlando space to toss him over his head. The hot tag to Eddie, who hit the crossbody on Cutler, followed by a big Serpent Splash for the two-count. Jay and Terry got involved and struck Serpentico with a tandem of strikes. Terry tagged in and and got superkicked by Serpentico. Tag to Eddie, who delivered the Backstabber on Terry for the three.

Winner: The Colons & Serpentico via Pinfall.

Backstage: Smart Mark Sterling, The Outrunners, Dalton Castle

Mark Sterling was backstage, as he unveiled a new action figure of himself to Dalton Castle and the Outrunners. Sterling was happy with his toy, but Castle and the Outrunners wanted to instead have their action figures beat up the Sterling figure. The figure is available tomorrow on Jazwares Vault and CollectMajor.com.

Aaron Solo & Nick Comoroto vs. MxM Collection (Mason Madden & Mansoor)

Mansoor and Solo kicked it off with a very unorthodox handshake. Mansoor took Solo down with the shoulder block as he stepped over him and posed for the camera. Mansoor with the side headlock, but Solo pushed out of it and tripped him up with the dropdown. Solo hit a pair of armdrags before he posed for the camera himself. Madden tagged in and took Solo for a ride when he tried for the waistlock. Madden also posed for the camera before Comoroto entered the match.

The two big men took the football four-point stance but Mansoor tagged in and looked to try his hand. However, Comoroto was just too strong for the lithe Mansoor. Comoroto was thrown over the rope and he tried to skim the cat. Madden took advantage with a shot behind the referee’s back. In the ring, Madden hit the throat thrust on Comoroto before MxM Collection took over with the double team rump-shaker, followed by the pose for the cameras.

Madden stuck his butt out as Mansoor catapulted Comoroto right into the finely-chiseled cheeks of Madden. Solo ran over to the MxM corner and broke up their double team hold on Comoroto, which allowed him to get the hot tag. Solo had a full head of speed with the neckbreaker on Mansoor, who then got sent over the top rope. Solo look to run for the dive, but Madden opened up the ropes to trip him up. This prompted Comorot and Madden to get into the ring for some cromulent big meaty men action, with meat slaps-a-plenty. Comoroto dropped Madden with a big running charge. Madden recovered and threw him out. Comoroto skimmed the cat and then hit the big scoop slam. Comoroto flexed and hit the big elbow drop.

Comoroto lifted Mansoor with one arm and then suplexed Madden. Double stomp by Solo, but Madden kicked out at two. Mansoor stepped in and hit a superkick to a leaping Solo, as Madden hit Comoroto with the chokeslam. MxM then connected with the Centerfold on Solo to pick up the win.

Winner: MxM Collection via Pinfall.

After the match, Ian Riccaboni interviewed MxM about their win. Madden said that one of the happiest moments of his career was getting on the plane and going south of Jacksonville to Orlando. Mansoor, who called Riccaboni “Riccaboner”, appeared to call their shot for the ROH World Tag Team Championships.

Backstage: Action Andretti

As Action Andretti was cutting a promo backstage, the lights kept cutting on and off with Lio Rush’s laughter heard in the background. Andretti was spooked and walked off not long after.

ROH Women’s World Television Championship
Isla Dawn vs. Red Velvet (c)

Isla took a cheapshot at Red to start the match off, but the ROH Women’s World TV Champion responded in kind. Isla dropped Red with consecutive body slams, but couldn’t connect on the third. Red hit Isla with the leg lariat and backed her into the corner with stomps to the chest. Isla escaped the corner but got hit with the casadora and the face-first slam. Isla responded with a back suplex after a missed running attack from Red Velvet. Isla continued to punish Red with punches and kicks on the ground. Isla then threw her hard into the turnbuckle with a powerful Irish whip.

Isla used the ropes for leverage on the dragon sleeper to Red as she then maintained momentum. Red got hit with a huge side kick to the face. Isla choked Red in the corner with the knee as the challenger was in full control here. Isla hit the meteora on Red, but could only muster up a near-fall out of it. Isla applied the seated Cobra Clutch on Red, but the Stunner from the champion the hold. That didn’t deter Isla, who maintained an aggressive approach to her foe. Isla missed with the running attack, but she avoided Red’s subsequent running attack. Red hit Isla with the knee on the apron. Isla blocked Red’s sliding kick and turned her around on the apron for the kick to the side.

At ringside, Isla snapped fingers of Red while the referee began his count. Isla aggressively pummeled Red before she headed back into the ring to break the count. Isla threw Red into the stairs as she set her up for a huge running kick. Red dodged at the last minute, causing Isla’s shin to make painful contact with the side of the steps. Both women got into the ring by the count of fifteen with the pace as quick as ever. Red planted Isla with the DDT as she then drove her knees to the back of Isla’s head. Red’s casadora was turned into a wheelbarrow suplex. The cover, but Red got a foot on the bottom rope to break the count at the last second. Isla went up to the top, but Red intercepted and hit her with the Cataclysm. One, two…. NO!

Isla hit a high Saito Suplex, followed by the Shining Wizard. One, two…. Red kicked out at 2.9999999999999!!!! Red countered Isla’s half-and-half suplex into a facebuster, but that wasn’t enough for the win. Red missed with the stir-it-up kick. Isla got her with the powerslam, but somehow, someway, Red Velvet kicked out at two. Dragon sleeper by Isla was reversed into a successful pinning combination by Red Velvet in an amazing match.

Winner: Red Velvet via Pinfall to retain the ROH Women’s World Television Championship.

Eight-Man Tag Team Match
The Lethal Twist (Jay Lethal, Blake Christian, & Lee Johnson) & Griff Garrison vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd), Dalton Castle, & Adam Priest

All eight men didn’t waste time to get the brawl going as the bell rung with Garrison and Priest as the legal men. Priest splashed on to Garrison outside the ring while everyone else kept fighting. Lethal tagged in for his team while Truth and Turbo worked him over. Castle joined in with a boot to a prone Garrison. In the ring, Christian and Johnson used their unorthodox tag team tactics to leave Castle stunned. Lethal did the Fargo strut before he hit the basement dropkick on Castle. Garrison tagged in and kept momentum firmly in his team’s favor with the jumping knee to Castle.

The Lethal Swirl and the Frat House at ringside took great pleasure in leaving Castle isolated from his teammates. Christian and Johnson pummeled Castle in the corner, but paid for it with a double clothesline. The tag to Priest, who went right at Lethal with a hard punch to the face, followed by the superplex. One, two…. Garrison broke the count up as he tagged himself in. Garrison lifted Priest up for the Torture Rack Bomb, but that only garnered a near-fall. Lethal’s superkick was intercepted by Truth Magnum with the action still hot on the outside. In the ring, Priest locked the single-leg crab while Christian flew onto everyone at ringside. Preston Vance tried to get involved, but he accidentally clocked Garrison with the lariat, as Priest got the pin in our main event.

Winner: The Outrunners, Dalton Castle, & Adam Priest via Pinfall.

After the match, Griff Garrison attacked Preston Vance, as Jacked Jameson seemed to join in on the attack. Jameson took the mic and said that he and Garrison were sick of boozing, losing, and of Vance. Afterwards, The Dark Order ran in and looked to come to the aid of their former alliy.

Vance and Jameson backed off while Evil Uno and Alex Reynolds stood with Vance in the ring. After a moment, Vance embraced Uno and Reynolds. This week’s ROH on HonorClub ended with Vance now back in the Dark Order fold.
