Yota Tsuji & Ryohei Oiwa Advances To Playoffs Round in NJPW G1 Climax 2026 Tournament

Wednesday’s G1 Climax 2026 Night 16 event for New Japan Pro Wrestling in Hamamatsu, Japan featured Yota Tsuji and Ryohei Oiwa advancing to the playoffs round in this year’s G1 Climax tournament.

Tsuji advanced as the winner of A Group with 12 points and Oiwa advanced as the group runner-up also with 12 points.

Tsuji held the head-to-head tiebreaker against both Oiwa and Konosuke Takeshita, who also ended with 12 points, for the group’s top spot. Oiwa held the head-to-head tiebreaker against Takeshita for the runner-up spot.

As a result, Tsuji will be facing off against the runner-up of B Block and Oiwa will be facing off against the winner of A Block in the Semifinal Round of this year’s G1 Climax tournament.

Kofi & Austin Creed Announced For Chris Jericho’s Rock-N-Wrestling Ranger At Sea Cruise Event This November

The Chris Jericho’s Rock N Wrestling Rager at Sea recently announced on Facebook that Kofi and Austin Creed, former Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods in WWE, will be making an appearance at their next cruise event on November 7-11 in Miami, Florida to Bimini, Bahamas.

It was also announced that Kofi and Creed will be the “Super Massive Guest Captains” at the cruise event.

This will be Kofi and Creed’s first appearance for the Chris Jericho’s Rock N Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise.

Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

Duel Arena recently announced that Patrick Clark, former WWE NXT wrestler Velveteen Dream, will be making his official boxing career debut at their August 29 event in Orlando, Florida.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that news of All Japan Pro Wresting being dissolved and merged into the Musashi Institute of Technology Company, Ltd is not anything notable in regards to the wrestling business. Meltzer reported that AJPW President Tsuyoki Fukuda owns MIT and he is simply just merging the two companies into a single company for corporate purposes. Meltzer also reported that AJPW itself has not been the actual same company that was formed by Puro Legend Giant Baba for more than a quarter century.

Atomic Legacy Wrestling recently announced that Blue Pants (also known as Leva Bates), Simon Gotch, and Matthew Rehwoldt will be reuniting for one night only at their We Wear The Crown event on September 12 in Lakeland, Florida. This will be the first time that Bates will be reuniting with The Vaudevillains since their days together in WWE’s NXT brand.

In a recent interview with Fightful Overbooked, indies talent Nixi XS gave her thoughts about her wanting Madonna to make an appearance at her future event for PRODUCE Wrestling. Nixi stated “Listen, I would love Madonna on my PRODUCE show. Don’t think that’s gonna happen, but you know what, never say never. She’s a lower east side girl, PRODUCE is a lower east side promotion. It could happen.” Nixi also gave her thoughts about how she wants her show to look. Nixi stated “For a Nixi PRODUCE show, I think there are people that might think, oh, it’s going to be an all girls show. I love an all girls show because I love supporting women’s wrestling, but I don’t like women’s wrestling as tokenism. I think it should be a man that books the first all-women’s PRODUCE show because I think it’s their responsibility to platform women instead of women having to be token items of progressivism. I want a diverse card. I want some really good matches from some talented people. I want representation from a lot of different styles of wrestling. I want to be fun. I think people also expect a Nixi card to just be like fun and silly because I do love fun and silly, but I also really give a fuck about wrestling and I’d want it to be fully fleshed out. I have ideas, we’ve talked about some locations. I don’t think it’s going to be anywhere that PRODUCE has been before, I can say that. In a recent interview with the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, Nikki Storm, former Nikki Cross in WWE, gave her thoughts about her main goal for her and Big Damo’s acquisition of PROGRESS Wrestling this past May. Storm stated “Yes, it’s been a crazy couple of months. It’s been insane the last couple of months. It was just perfect timing. I don’t know if it would have still happened if I was still with WWE, so it just felt like perfect timing, the right place, the right time, the right circumstances with PROGRESS Wrestling. Our goal is to make PROGRESS Wrestling the number one independent promotion in the world, and we’ve got a long way to go. But that’s the mission, that’s the goal, that’s our aim. We want to take young talent and give them opportunities, and push them, and give them a platform. In Europe right now, it’s a hotbed. So the talent is there and just waiting to be tapped into, and that’s what we want to do with PROGRESS Wrestling. We want the style to be aggressive and intense, but we also want the three-ring circus. So we want our stories to be involved. We have such funny, wonderful characters, funny wrestlers at PROGRESS. So we want there to still be space for them, but we really want that three-ring circus and really push that aggressive, intense ring style and become the number one company. Even with the women’s wrestling, it’s such a hotbed right now in Britain, and not only do I get to work with these girls in the ring, I also can’t wait to work with them for PROGRESS and make it a hotbed because it is a hotbed. PROGRESS Wrestling, we want to be at the forefront of that, and we want to work with all the companies we can. We want to cross-promote. We want good relationships worldwide. Whether that be in Japan, America, Canada, Europe, other places in England, in Scotland, in Ireland, like we want it all covered, and if we can do it.
