Potential Reason Why Hell In A Cell Match Closed Out SummerSlam 2026 Night 1
Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 1 event at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota featured Oba Femi defeating Brock Lesnar in a Hell in a Cell match. This match was notable for main eventing the show over the Undisputed WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported in a recent Q&A article that his sources within WWE stated that the current belief is that Lesnar had pushed for his match to main event the show.
This year’s SummerSlam event is taking place in Lesnar’s home state of Minnesota.
Nick Aldis Comments on Him Being Open To Wrestle Again Under The Right Circumstances
Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 1 event in Minneapolis also featured Gunther defeating Nick Aldis in a singles match. This match was notable for being Aldis’ first match in his WWE career and also his first match since October of 2023.
A recent episode of the WWE Now show featured Aldis as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Aldis’ thoughts about if his in-ring return at SummerSlam was a “one and done” type situation for him.
“I don’t know. I came in with no expectations, and I come out with none. If it’s there, it’s there.”
Aldis also gave his thoughts about if he wants to wrestle again in the future.
“Sure, in the right circumstances, yeah.”

ESPN announced that Oba Femi was the inaugural winner of their Moment of the Night Championship for WWE’s SummerSlam 2026 Night 1 event.
It was announced that Femi won the award for his victory over Brock Lesnar in a Hell in a Cell match.
