WWE Reportedly Unhappy Some Employees Voiced Concerns About Going to Crown Jewel 2026 In Saudi Arabia

WWE is STILL currently scheduled to be holding their Crown Jewel 2026 event on November 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This upcoming event’s status in Saudi Arabia had been uncertain following the United States Department of State issuing an official update this past September to their existing Level 3 travel advisory in regards to Saudi Arabia over issues involving the Iran war. The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh had issued a new security alert last week warning their citizens in the country following missile attacks on the King Khalid International airport in Riyadh that left several dead and the escalated violence between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis. WWE currently has backup plans in place to hold the event in the United States if they are unable to do so in Saudi Arabia.

Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that WWE officials were not “thrilled” that some of their employees had talked within the company of not wanting to go to Saudi Arabia for the upcoming Crown Jewel event.

Meltzer reported that not one wrestler has said a word regarding not wanting to go to the event which does not surprise him because if they speak out, there would be repercussions against them.

In regards to WWE’s backup location plans in the United States, Meltzer reported that those spoken to confirmed that there are backup plans in place but this is something that WWE can’t say publicly because then it would sound like they are wavering on holding the event in Saudi Arabia. WWE official reportedly also do not want want to upset the Saudis if they publicly announce anything regarding a change in venue for the event.

In regards to the current situation in Saudi Arabia, Reuters reported that Saudi officials have stated that the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has been attacked 20 times this month. A spokesperson for the Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen reportedly stated that the recent attack by the Houthi geoup had killed 17 people and wounded 333 others.

Saudi official Turki Alalshikh had recently announced that this year’s Six Kings Slam tennis tournament has been postponned from its scheduled dates of October 21-24 to new dates of December 27-30. Alalshikh stated that the reason was due to “organizational and logistical challenges” in light of the recent safety issues in the area.
