UPDATE: Thursday night’s TNA iMPACT! Wrestling drew a 0.84 (0.8) household/cable rating, which is down 6% from last week’s 0.89 (0.9). The show had VERY stiff competition with game one of the NBA finals. Thursday’s game averaged a HUGE 14,846,000 viewers – up 4% compared to last year’s 14,241,000 viewers. It also averaged a 9.0 household rating, up 2% from an 8.8 for last year’s Game 1. The 9.0 rating matches the second-highest-rated NBA Finals Game 1 since 2004. ABC reported the game also is up “in every key demo”: men 18-34 (8.0 vs. 7.5), men 18-49 (7.9 vs. 7.4), men 25-54 (7.8 vs.7.6), adults 18-34 (6.0 vs. 5.8), adults 18-49 (6.0 vs. 5.7) and adults 25-54 (6.1 vs. 5.9). Female demos were not included; draw your own conclusion. The NBA Finals on Twitter was the most-tweeted NBA game of the year with more than 3.2 million tweets and up 18% when compared to Game 1 last season. Additionally, the game was the most-talked about television program of the day, accounting for 76% of all television conversation on Twitter, according to Nielsen Social.
ORIGINAL: Thursday night’s episode of iMPACT! Wrestling drew 993,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18 – 49 demographic. The drop isn’t a huge one from last week, with the show being down 8% and even respectively, compared to 1.08 million and a 0.3. It is the first time the show has been under a million viewers since March 20th when the show did 997,000 and the lowest-viewed show since the Thanksgiving episode drew 921,000 in November.
Part of the problem is certainly the NBA Finals, which drew 12.61 million viewers and a 6.0 demo rating. We’ll have the household rating later.
