— As noted late last night here on the website, former NFL player Shawne Merriman was never signed to a contract with WWE. This contradicts earlier reports that suggested Merriman had a contract with WWE and was training as a wrestler or to announce for the company on the WWE Network for the WrestleMania 31 pre-show.
Merriman did make an appearance on the WWE Network for WrestleMania 30, but the idea at the time was that he was looking to eventually become an announcer for WWE while he would train to become a wrestler.
