As we’ve been reporting for quite some time now, Jim Ross’ current contract with WWE is set to expire tomorrow. Though it’s possible he will sign another short-term extension, friends are saying there’s a good chance he’ll explore life outside WWE. Unless something major changes tomorrow, he’ll be leaving WWE.
As noted previously, Ross met with TNA president Dixie Carter and her father in early April regarding joining the organization. He has also had discussions with HDNet in regards to becoming the voice of the network by calling MMA and United Football League events. Ring of Honor could also be tied potentially into the deal. He is said to have a number of options these days, so there is no guarantee he will ultimately wind up in TNA. With that being said, TNA officials plan on making a strong offer to Ross to bring him in as an announcer with some semblance of internal power.
We’ll see what happens tomorrow.
