Shane Douglas spoke with the Coshocton Tribune promoting Ohio Championship Wrestling’s Tradition 12th anniversary show on Saturday. Check out the highlights:
On performing for the fans: “It’s humbling to me to have people come up to me and say, ‘Thank you for the years of entertaining us.’ I can still remember the kid who got into wrestling and never, ever having the gumption to believe he would ever be a champion.”
On the independent scene: “The kids aren’t there because they’re getting a big paycheck. The fans aren’t there because they’re getting the slickest product. In the basic sense, they’re getting guys and girls who are eager to be wrestlers and learn the craft. The fans respond to that. For me, it’s fun to go back to the basics and see the energy in the room.”
