Crossing Broad reports that Philadelphia has reportedly submitted a bid to get WrestleMania 34 in 2018. The city previously held WrestleMania XV in 1999.
The city made “token offers” for WrestleMania 31 and 32, which ended up going to Santa Clara and Dallas. Philadelphia Sports Congress Executive Director Larry Needle later said that the fact that venues were unavailable is why no serious bids were made. There was also rumors that Lincoln Field Memorial representatives were “difficult” to work with and treated the WWE like they were “doing them a favor.” A similar attitude was rumored during negotiations for the 2012 Winter Classic which Citizens Bank Park eventually hosted.
Now a more substantial bid has been placed to get the event in 2018. Lincoln Financial Field would host WrestleMania 34, while NXT and RAW events will be at the Wells Fargo Center and WrestleMania AXXESS will happen at the Convention Center (host of the WrestleMania RAGE party in 1999).
