— In an interview with Vince Russo’s The Brand podcast, Shawn Michaels revealed he wasn’t in the best shape when the idea of a return at Wrestle Mania 32. He said that his appearance with Mick Foley and Steve Austin was planned “well in advance”. He said Vince McMahon called him with the plans six weeks before the show. He wanted him to appear in his wrestling gear along with Foley and Austin, and it would be more special if they were in their ring gear. HBK said he wasn’t in the best shape and turned it down, but McMahon convinced him to start training. The day of WrestleMania, he learned that Austin wasn’t in his ring gear.
