WWE has reportedly signed two of the participants from the Cruiserweight Classic tournament in Kota Ibushi and Gran Metalik. Both men are said to have signed NXT deals.
Ibushi is 34 years old and has worked in such promotions and New Japan Pro Wrestling and DDT. He’s held the IWGP jr. heavyweight belt and the jr. heavyweight tag team titles. He was also the winner of the 2015 New Japan Cup. At the 2015 Wrestle Kingdom event, he wrestled Shinsuke Nakamura in an excellent match.
Gran Metalik aka Mascara Dorada is 27 years old. He’s previously worked in CMLL for several years and has also done tours in NJPW.
Both stars are said to be the first two of a likely string of new signings for the NXT roster over the coming weeks. Other names who are expected to sign include Cedric Alexander Zack Sabre Jr. Both of them will reportedly be offered contracts soon if they haven’t received the offers already.
