During the first episode of his new podcast, Eric Bischoff commented on Brock Lesnar’s current situation with his failed drug test and how he could stand to lose money off of his UFC 200 fight due to taxes and potential fines from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. You can read Bischoff’s thoughts on the matter below:
“You know what’s another interesting aspect of this that I’ve been thinking about the last couple of days? I read that the fine from the state of Nevada or the USADA could range somewhere from $1.5 million on up to about $1.875 million. Which is a pretty hefty fine but think about it from an accountant’s point of view. Again, I’m totally unfamiliar with how this works but just from a layman’s perspective if Brock Lesnar was paid and earned $2.5 million for that fight that means that Brock Lesnar has to pay taxes on that earned income of $2.5 million. Which is roughly 50%. Now if he gets fined $1.875 million of the remaining $1.25 million that was left after taxes he literally lost money on that fight. This time of year I think about everything from a tax perspective.”
