Though word was that the Hardys and WWE haven’t had formal talks yet, there are some at TNA who believe that WWE actually already made the Hardys an offer, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
As previously reported, the Hardys had originally planned to stay with TNA and had a verbal agreement in place back in December, but didn’t get an official contract offer until only a couple of weeks ago and the delay “spooked them” and they actually apparently began discussions with WWE, according to Meltzer’s source.
The source also said that the Hardys had always planned to try to get back to WWE eventually and it seems like now would be as good a time as any, since they’re obviously currently hot and are “not getting any younger.”
One issue that may be cause for concern would be the WWE road schedule. TNA tapes several weeks of shows in a few days, so they would obviously be on the road a lot more with WWE (though they did also work indie dates often). They also both have infant children so would be away from their families more often and the physical toll would also be higher. There is a possibility that if they do end up in WWE, it might not be a long-term run.

Though the Hardys generated a ton of buzz about TNA on the internet and many fans would chant their catch phrases, the feeling among Jeff Jarrett’s team is that TV ratings have actually been gradually going down. Though the blame obviously isn’t being put on the Hardys for that, the idea is that if they were so good for the company, ratings would at least stay even instead of dropping.
There were also rumors that the new creative team could have eventually split the Hardys up and are said to have been pretty high on Jeff Hardy, with the possibility of making him a singles champion.
