As previously reported, the Hardy Boyz have been engaged in an on-going legal battle with Impact/GFW’s owner Anthem Sports regarding the ownership of the “Broken” gimmick. Both sides have tried to claim legal ownership of the gimmick with Anthem going as far as threatening lawsuits against the WWE if the gimmick was used in WWE events.
In a recent tweet by Matt Hardy, Matt hinted at good news regarding the status of the “Broken” gimmick to be announced soon and the Hardy’s legal battle with Anthem Sports nearing its end.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer talked in previous reports about WWE wanting to wait until the legal mess regarding the gimmick’s status was resolved before debuting the “Broken” gimmick. The original plans were for the Hardy’s tag championship reign to have lasted till the legal situation was over and then drop the belts to debut the “Broken” gimmick. Instead, those plans were shelved after the WWE wasn’t willing to wait as long once the legal situation started to drag along.
