After months of rumors and reports, Shelton Benjamin is reported to have officially signed a new contract with the WWE, according to PWInsider.
PWInsider reported a deal between the two sides was recently reached and Benjamin is currently expected to be making his television return “soon” based on one of their sources in the WWE. While original plans were for Benjamin to be placed on the Smackdown brand, the report stated it is currently unknown which brand Benjamin will be placed in.
WWE had originally planned to sign Benjamin last summer as part of the draft for the new brand split. Those plans were dropped when the WWE learned of him suffering from a shoulder injury at the time from the results of his physical exam. Rumors of the WWE still being interested in signing Benjamin persisted after Benjamin revealed in March he was medically cleared to resume wrestling.
