Finn Balor vs. Brock Lesnar Off?
The rumored match between Brock Lesnar and Finn Balor could be off, if WWE’s recent booking is any indication. Balor was rumored to be facing Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. WWE appeared to make Balor look strong by having him go over AJ Styles at TLC, but the following night, jobbed him to Kane for some reason. If WWE is planning on having Balor challenge Lesnar, it seems inexplicable to have him lose to Kane on Raw. Why would anyone now take him seriously as a contender to Lesnar? WWE could have put any number of wrestlers in that role to lose to Kane, but decided on Balor for some reason.
WWE could be banking on no one remembering the Kane match by Royal Rumble time and they could try to build Balor back up by then, but it still seems weird to take him down while he was on a high from the Styles match. It’s possible that they’ve just decided against a Lesnar vs. Balor match, but we’ll see I guess. Lesnar’s feud options to hold him over until Roman Reigns at WrestleMania appear to be limited.
Ricochet
Ricochet won the PWG World Championship at this past weekend’s All Star Weekend show.
After his win, Ricochet said that he wasn’t going anywhere despite rumors that he was going to WWE.
However, he has told indie promotions that he isn’t taking any bookings after the end of January, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. With Lucha Underground ending last week, Ricochet has a 90 day no-compete clause where he can’t work on any televised wrestling show in the US. After that, it’s been no secret that he wants to go to WWE and that WWE wants to sign him.
PWG’s next show is on January 12, so Ricochet will likely drop the title at that show before going to WWE.
