At last night’s NXT TV tapings, it was announced that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament would return this year, with matches being taped starting at tonight’s second night of tapings at Center Stage in Atlanta.
The team of Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler (billed as “The Forgotten Sons”) announced at the tapings last night (after defeating two local wrestlers) that they would be the first team entering the tournament.
The tournament debuted in 2015, with the team of Finn Balor and Samoa Joe winning, defeating Baron Corbin and Rhyno in the finals. In 2016, The Authors of Pain defeated TM61. There was no tournament in 2017.
The next NXT TV tapings after tonight will be on March 7 at Full Sail University. Those will be the last tapings before TakeOver: New Orleans, which is likely when the finals of the tournament will take place.
