WWE, Ric Flair, and Charlotte Flair are currently dealing with a defamation lawsuit from Charlotte’s ex-husband, according to TMZ Sports.
TMZ Sports reported that Charlotte’s ex-husband, Riki Paul Johnson, recently filed a lawsuit claiming defamation against him in the Flairs’ Second Nature biographical book. Johnson claims that the book contains several false statements about him during his marriage to Charlotte from 2010 to 2011. Specifically, Johnson is disputing a claim that he lost two jobs due to drug related problems, a claim that he was sterile and could not have children, and multiple claims of him being abusive towards Charlotte during their time together. He also claims that the book intentionally made him into a villain in order to promote the narrative of Charlotte overcoming adversity and domestic abuse in her life.
WWE was named as a defendant in the lawsuit due to their involvement with the publishing and marketing of the book.
Johnson stated that the allegations made against him have humiliated his family and says that he has proof to debunk the book’s claims, including police reports and dash cam footage. He is currently asking for over $5 million in damages.
WWE responded to TMZ, saying, “We recently received what appears to be a meritless lawsuit and we will vigorously defend ourselves.”
