This year’s WWE post-Christmas house show at Madison Square Garden reportedly generated the smallest attendance in recent years, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported that WWE sold around 11,900 tickets for this year’s holiday event, making it the lowest crowd for a WWE Christmas week event at the venue in recent years. WWE originally planned for this event to be a SmackDown Live branded show prior to being switched to a RAW branded show with a special NXT match included in order to boost ticket sales.
Meltzer also reported that WWE’s Christmas house show event in Chicago, Illinois involving the SmackDown Live brand drew lower than normally expected for these events. The overall attendance for Chicago was reported to be around 6,000 and well below the typical average of around 10,000.
