Kenny Omega spoke to Tokyo Sports and said that he is taking “time away” from New Japan Pro Wrestling.
NJPW commentator and historian Chris Charlton translated Omega’s comments as, “There is no real place for me to fit, so it’s best for me not to be in (NJPW). I can’t be there working under Tanahashi. I don’t think he’s surpassed me, don’t think he’s better. If we can, I want to face him again. But I need time away, and not just from New Japan.”

Omega’s contract with NJPW expires at the end of this month. He lost the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 13 on Friday.
In the article, Omega also says the following about WWE and AEW, roughly translated by Google: “If I go to WWE, the fans there will be pleased, and the fans will be pleased if I go to AEW. I want to be in a place where Kenny is going to be happy. I do not know what will happen myself.”
WWE reportedly has already made Omega a “fantastic offer,” according to Dave Meltzer. Omega is also a huge part of “The Elite” and AEW obviously wants him.
NJPW, AEW and ROH reportedly had a meeting on Saturday, which was said to be about the possibility of the companies working together in the future.
