Ric Flair was or is scheduled to undergo a heart-related surgery today. As of 5 PM ET, there is no update on that.
TMZ is reporting that Flair is in “good spirits” and “confident he’ll be okay after he undergoes surgery.” They added that he has been talking on the phone with other wrestlers and friends who have been calling to check in and has been “cracking jokes and being his usual friendly self.”
Flair was scheduled to be part of a celebrity roast called “The Roast of Ric Flair” this Friday at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, where comedians and other wrestlers were going to roast him, but Flair will not be able to attend because of his health issues. A spokesman told TMZ that Flair won’t be healthy enough coming off of heart surgery to travel from Atlanta to Las Vegas.
Flair was rushed to a hospital Thursday morning with what TMZ called a “medical emergency.” He originally had a surgery scheduled for Friday, but it was postponed until today. He has reportedly undergone multiple heart surgeries over the past few months.
