As noted before, Colt Cabana is currently suing CM Punk over allegations of Punk failing to reimburse all of his legal fees from last year’s Dr. Chris Amann defamation lawsuit. Earlier this month, Punk filed a counter-suit against Cabana over allegations that Cabana broke their agreement and owes him money in unpaid legal fees.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that Cabana filed an official response to CM Punk’s counter-suit on June 26th to the Circuit Court of Cook County in Illinois.
In his response, Cabana disputed Punk’s claim that he completely benefited from the legal representation provided by the Loeb Firm. Cabana claims that it wasn’t until he hired his own legal representation that his defamation issues with Dr. Amann were legally resolved.
Cabana also disputed Punk’s claims in the counter-suit that stated he was to pay Punk back at a later date. Similar to his own on-going lawsuit, Cabana claims that Punk had promised to take care of all of their legal fees and that he was never expected to pay any of the money back to Punk.
Cabana’s response also claimed “the timing of Brooks’ meritless Counterclaim makes it somewhat obvious that Brooks, who is very wealthy and can afford to defend against Colton’s claims, came up with his claim against Colton, who is not so wealthy, merely as a means to possibly extort an early settlement of this lawsuit.”
