WWE is interested in purchasing the FITE TV streaming service and has meetings coming up to discuss a possible deal, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
If that does happen, it’s not clear what that would mean for the service, and if it would continue to be run as a separate business or if it would be incorporated into WWE Network somehow.
AEW uses FITE to stream their PPVs outside of the US and Canada and if WWE buys FITE, AEW would almost certainly no longer use it.
Though this will likely cause some fear and uncertainty for the various wrestling promotions that use FITE (including Impact and several indie promotions), the Observer points out that “WWE talks to a lot of people and that doesn’t mean a deal is getting done.”
Update
FITE denied the report on Twitter.
Hello! These rumors are not true. We are not in merger and acquisitions discussions with WWE. We constantly appreciate all of your support and passionate comments.
