NJPW: Kota Ibushi Health Update, Karl Fredericks Injury, New Beginning USA Night 2 & 3 Results

Kota Ibushi Health Status Update

As noted before, Kota Ibushi was pulled from New Japan Pro Wrestling’s The New Beginning USA 2020 tour due to what was said to be the flu.

Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Ibushi’s illness is actually worse than was originally stated. Ibushi reportedly was recently diagnosed with Mallory-Weiss Syndrome, which is a tear in the mucous membrane connecting the esophagus to the stomach.

Most Mallory-Weiss tears typically heal within ten days but surgery could be required if Ibushi’s tear is more serious than usual.

Ibushi is expected to make a full recovery and as of now is still scheduled for NJPW’s Road To The New Beginning show in Osaka on February 9.

Karl Fredericks Suffers Shoulder Injury

NJPW announced that Karl Fredericks suffered a right shoulder injury during his match against YOSHI-HASHI on Night 2 of their New Beginning USA 2020 tour in Nashville, Tennessee.

It was also announced that due to his injury, Fredericks has been pulled from the remainder of the tour.
