WWE Launching New Performance Center in Japan Later This Year
As noted before, WWE has been working on plans to launch an NXT Japan branch within the near future. WWE’s attempts to purchase Stardom and Pro Wrestling NOAH failed due to neither company being interested in a partnership nor buyout with WWE.
Dave Meltzer reported in last week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE is currently expected to make an official announcement regarding the launch of a new Performance Center in Japan likely during this summer if everything goes as planned. Meltzer reported that WWE officials recently contacted Japanese politician Hiroshi Hase and former wrestler Antonio Inoki about the current political situation in Japan for their NXT Japan plans.
Meltzer also reported that WWE’s original plans for NXT Japan was to form a partnership with Pro Wrestling NOAH as the basis for it before those plans were scrapped following NOAH’s sale to Japanese media company CyberAgent Inc.

Sorry to the @ThisIs_Progress fans and mgmt for missing #Chapter103 today. V.strenuous schedule lately and picked up a bit of elbow bursitis. It'll be fine in a week or so, I just didn't want to risk infection or aggravating it and prolonging my time out. See you guys soon. 😓
