Kairi Sane Injury Update
As noted before, Kairi Sane reportedly suffered a head injury during this past Tuesday’s television tapings for the June 1st episode of RAW. Sane suffered the injury during her match against Nia Jax, which quickly resulted in online backlash against Jax due to her history of injuring her opponents.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that based on his sources, Sane’s injury was more of an accident than a reckless spot by Jax. Meltzer reported that Sane was stated to be in control of her bump spot and may have simply slipped and clipped her head on the steel steps causing the cut and injury.
Meltzer also reported that Jax currently does not have any internal heat within the company over this incident.
WWE’s Current Plans for the Intercontinental Championship Tournament
WWE officials currently do not have any plans for the finals of their Intercontinental Championship tournament to take place at next month’s Backlash event, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported that as of press time for this week’s issue, WWE’s plans for the tournament were to tape the finals for television and not for their upcoming Backlash event. Meltzer did hint that plans could always change but the finals may have already been taped for the June 5 SmackDown.
