Former ROH Talent & Co-Booker Marty Scurll Worked at Recent NJPW Strong Tapings

Former Ring of Honor talent and co-booker Marty Scurll reportedly worked at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s set of NJPW Strong tapings last month, according to Fightful and Fanbyte.

Fightful Select reported that Scurll was seen backstage during tapings of NJPW Strong that took place on January 22nd in Los Angeles, California. It was reported that Scurll had informed NJPW officials of his interest in rejoining the company.

In regards to Scurll’s involvement at the tapings, Fanbyte’s Emily Pratt reported that Scurll had an on-screen role during the tapings and was involved in a post-match angle with Rocky Romero which has yet to air. A source spoken to stated that NJPW officials “weren’t trying to hide him. I thought we were going to be the company that wasn’t booking these guys to get some buzz. They’re going to get buzz alright, but probably not the kind they’re looking for. And it just reeks of letting things slide because these people are all friends or whatever. I really just think fans should know his involvement beforehand, so they can choose to tune in or not.”

Scurll last worked for NJPW at their The New Beginning USA 2020 event on January 27th in Durham, North Carolina.

Scurll had been among those accused of sexual abuse and harassment during this past June’s Speaking Out movement. Scurll’s tenure with ROH ended in January 2021 following a lengthy investigation by ROH officials into his allegations.
