As noted before, NXT is currently rumored to be moving to Tuesdays on USA Network starting in mid-April due to NBC’s current plans to move their NHL and other sports properties from NBCSN to USA Network in the near future.
ESPN announced on Wednesday that they have signed a new seven-year television deal with the NHL to air a select number of regular season games, playoff games, and Stanley Cup series on their network and ABC starting next season.
The New York Post’s Andrew Marchand reported that the NHL is currently planning on signing one more major television deal, with NBC and FOX in negotiations for that second deal. NBC’s current deal with the NHL expires at the end of this season.
Should NBC renew their deal with the NHL, NXT likely would still move to Tuesdays on USA Network, with NHL games likely airing on USA Network on Wednesdays. ESPN has commitments with the NBA for basketball games to air on Wednesdays on their network, so likely wouldn’t air Wednesday NHL games on ESPN.
