Ringside News reported that WWE’s original plan for this past Sunday’s WrestleMania Backlash event was for the WWE Championship Triple Threat match of Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman vs. Bobby Lashley to be the main event of the show.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that WWE officials made tweaks all day to the match order of the event and had not decided upon which match to open the show a couple hours before its start. Johnson reported that the RAW Women’s Championship Triple Threat match of Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley that opened the show was originally planned to take place later into it.
The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that WrestleMania Backlash failed to cracked the Top 20 in Google searches for the night. Meltzer reported that this was the first time in company history that a WWE pay-per-view event failed to chart within Google’s Top 20 list. The twentieth ranked term reportedly generated around 100,000 searches.
Fightful Select reported that the zombies used for the Lumberjack match between Damian Priest and The Miz were all developmental talent from WWE’s Performance Center. It was reported that Joe Gacy, Daniel Vidot, Cal Bloom, Jiro Kuroshio, and Asher Hale were among those who played as zombies for the match.
