As noted before, WWE is currently planning for Roman Reigns to defend his Universal Championship against John Cena at this year’s SummerSlam event.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE officials current plans are for the Universal Championship match to be the main event of this year’s SummerSlam.
Meltzer reported that as of one week ago, WWE officials currently do not have any plans for a match between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley to take place at the event. Meltzer also reported that some of his sources within the company currently do not believe Lesnar will be booked for SummerSlam.
Besides John Cena, WWE officials reportedly are also currently considering other big names to appear at the event as part of their plans to make this year’s SummerSlam a WrestleMania-level show. One of the big names rumored for the show reportedly is Edge.
