WWE Issues Statement on Keith Lee’s Claims Over Unpaid Medical Bills

As noted before, Keith Lee was among the eighteen wrestlers released last week by WWE. While responding to a fan question on Twitter, Lee stated that he and not the company had paid for his medical bills during his health scare earlier this year.

WWE recently issued an official statement denying that they did not pay for Lee’s medical bills while he was under employment with the company.

Keith Lee’s recent comments implying WWE failed to pay his medical bills are erroneous.

WWE has an extensive healthcare program for the medical care of its in-ring performers and Mr. Lee was part of this program while with the company. 

Should Mr. Lee have any concerns over the payment of medical bills, he is welcme to address them with WWE.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that for all talent in the company, WWE requires them to all have proof of their own medical insurance as a way for the company to not have to pay for their medical costs in certain situations. Meltzer reported that for injuries suffered on the job, WWE covers those medical costs but for health-related issues, it would be primarily covered by the talent themselves. In regards to office staff, WWE reportedly covers all of their insurance and same for their families.

Meltzer reported that WWE’s dispute with Lee’s claims likely revolves around Lee contracting COVID-19 earlier this year and the two sides having different views on if it was equal to being hurt while on the job.
