AEW reportedly was recently hit with a class action lawsuit over allegations of their online store violating Federal and New York City disabilities laws, according to Wrestlenomics.
Brandon Thurston reported that Luigi Abreu filed a class action lawsuit on May 4th against AEW claiming that their official ShopAEW.com website violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and New York City Human Rights Law.
Abreu, who is legally blind, is claiming in his lawsuit that AEW failed “to design, construct, maintain, and operate its website to be fully accessible to – and independently usable by – Plaintiff and other blind or visually-impaired people who use screen-reading software.”
Abreu is currently seeking a preliminary and permanent injunction, declaratory relief, statutory damages, actual and punitive damages, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, and reasonable attorneys’ fees and expenses.
Thurston reported that a similar lawsuit was filed against WWE in 2020 regarding their online store and was quickly settled by WWE.
