This past Friday’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown featured The Usos defeating RK-Bro in a RAW and SmackDown Tag Team Championships Unification match.
Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that WWE’s plans to do a unification match was a last minute decision made by WWE officials going into this past Friday’s SmackDown show.
These same sources also stated that the main focus for the match was less about the actual unification of the tag team titles and more about the post-match injury angle and attack on Riddle and Randy Orton to set up future feuds for Roman Reigns for his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
Meltzer reported that WWE officials were going back-and-forth on the day of the show for their plans before Vince McMahon made the final decision to go ahead with the match and payoff the RK-Bro and Usos feud that had originally teased a unification of the tag team titles at WrestleMania Backlash 2022 earlier this month.
