WWE announced tonight that Cody Rhodes will be out of action for nine months after undergoing surgery to repair his torn pectoral tendon.
“Rhodes had successful surgery on Thursday performed by Dr. Jeffrey Dugas to reattach his pectoral tendon. Rhodes will face a long recovery and will be unable to compete for nine months,” WWE’s statement said.

Brandi Rhodes said that Cody underwent the surgery on Thursday to repair the tendon, which “was torn completely off the bone.”

If he’s actually out for nine months, it would mean a return around March, so he’d miss the Royal Rumble, but would be back in time for WrestleMania. It’s possible that he could be back sooner. A torn pec in 2018 kept Triple H out for five months, and John Cena returned after four months in 2008.
